Report Builder Printing and File Output

A new Printer Friendly & CSV Report button has been added to the Report Builder results screen.  This button, at the bottom of the screen, will open a new tab where the Report Builder Results are formatted for better printing, PDF generation and CSV export.

The new format splits the report into sections with fewer Scouts in each section to allow for direct printing from the web browser. It also contains buttons to generate PDFs in either portrait or landscape mode and to export a CSV containing the report data.

Youth can now access their own reports

We have made it so a youth account Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Venturing can access History Reports and Payment Log Report they are accessed from their Scoutbook accounts.

Moving Scout from sync to non-sync unit fixed.

An issue that prevents Scouts from being moved into a unit that is not activated for advancement sync has been fixed.  This issue affected all Scouts, even those that had never been activated for advancement sync into units that did not use Scoutbook.  With this fix, Scouts can now be moved into any unit.  This fix applies to unit subscriptions, free accounts and family subscriptions.

Some Bread Crumbs Cleaned Up

An issue affecting the "bread crumb" navigation at the top of the page in Scoutbook has been fixed.   When Scoutbook was on a Cub Scout adventure page, clicking on the Cub Scout rank breadcrumb would return the user to the dashboard.  The user will now be properly returned to the desired rank page.

Unit Sync Activation

As we migrate Scoutbook to the BSA’s advancement database of record, all Scouts with a current member ID and are in an active unit subscription, will need to be in the advancement sync.

If your unit does not activate the sync, once your current unit subscription expires you will not be able to renew until the sync steps have been completed.  Until then, you will be able to complete but not approve advancements for Scouts without a current BSA membership ID.

In the near future, advancements for Scouts with valid member IDs in Scoutbook and who are not in the sync will be brought over from ScoutNET.

In addition, on June 1, 2018, any trial subscriptions that have not had any activity within the last 30 days will be closed and advancement data associated will be cleared out. If you wish to extend your trial, please contact Scoutbook.support@scouting.org

If you would like your unit activated for the sync, and are having difficulties activating, please send an email to: Scoutbook.support@scouting.org  If a unit Key 3 member sends the email and requests the unit be activated for the sync, Member Care will turn the youth advancement sync on for that unit.  Any Scouts with valid member id’s will be activated and included in the sync.

    Report builder wishlist:
    1) Put some whitespace between pages.

    2) Rotate the scout names 90 degrees to fit more scouts per page.

Glad that you have updated to print CSVs. Would like to have the option to assign what goes in the rows and what goes in the columns.

This may very well be covered elsewhere. What happens to those who do not, or have not, transitioned to Scoutbook?

    Scott,

Units that do not transition to Scoutbook will have access to Scoutbook Lite when it is released as the replacement for Internet Advancement. Scoutbook Lite will be a no charge subset of Scoutbook.

If a troop has not yet activated advancement sync then advancement is not automatically synced. Once a unit activates advancement sync, the data is synced with other BSA systems as soon as a leader approves final completion.

Shane, if the troop has activated the advancement sync, all of the scouts on the Scoutbook roster page will have an A with an arrow circling it by their names.

I know you can do this with roster records but any way to reset Report Builder so that it will show last name, then first?
BTW I personally dislike the CVS format, wish you had shown scout name in column and rank info in row. Yes, I know I could reformat it but that is too much fiddling around for something that should be easier. Make me a believer...

When a new scout joins our Pack & we’ve handed in his application & dues to council office, how do we get his BSA # to activate him in Scoutbook?

    Beth,

Parents have access to view Payment Log as long as the unit gives them a Full Control connection to their Scout. The SUAC recommends Full Control for parents.

where do I see if leaders (cubmaster, den leaders) are key 3 in Scoutbook? I couldn't sync using my sign on, someone else had to do it, and now as I add a child since the sync their den leader cannot update his awards (because he needs to be synced). I do the adding of kids and awards, but am not a Key3 person. where can I see if my cub master is a key 3?

    Juana,

Key 3 are defined by the BSA as Charter Org Rep, Committee Chair and Cubmaster/Scoutmaster/Crew Advisor/Skipper.

Any unit admin can add Scouts (please stop calling them kids) to the roster and activate them for sync. The Key 3 (or Key 3 delegate) is only needed to activate sync the first time.

Hi, just tried the Scout adventure cards feature and like it a lot. Just one issue of spacing on the printout, there is a creep upwards on each row. So first line of two card prints fine, then second row is good but raised, row three more so and by the final row it printing 1/8" above the line so Cubmaster name is printing through den leader line.

    1. Checking from one of the comments above. We have crossovers from the Pack to the Troop. Record of transfer has been turned in to Council. Do I need to add them to the roster so that they will sync or does their record come over in the sync with BSA? I have refreshed the data, but the new crossovers do not appear.
    2. I have a Scout whose last name has changed. Records have been changed at Council, and sync'd. Do I need to change his name in Scoutbook or should that come over in the Sync?
    Thanks!

Sync is only for advancements. You need to manually add new Scouts to your roster. If they have scoutbook accounts from the pack, those accounts need to be transferred. Click on the SUC logo to the left below my trained strip to be taken to the SUAC help documents. Instructions for transferring Scouts are on page 2 (link at the bottom of the top post)

I am currently the advancement chair of our troop and just implementing Scoutbook. I will honestly say that there are reporting functions in Troop Master that should be mirrored in Scoutbook.

The CSV output is great, but it's hard to work with in Excel because the output is backward from what I would expect. It's better to list the scouts on the rows and the other information in the columns. This way it's easier to use Excel functionality, like V-lookup. Also, it makes the report go across too many columns.

Why is there not a way to look at leadership history for all scouts in one report? This is important for advancement - knowing how much leadership each scout when they request a BOR is critical - we cannot complete a BOR if leadership is not correct for that rank.

I would be happy to provide the reports that we used in Troop Master so that you can create something similar for Scoutbook.
